Definition

Short Functional Text is a short text that has particular meaning and purpose, and can be used in our daily life. It may be in the form of prohibition, invitation, greeting cards, short message, shopping list, notice, announcement, etc.

Purpose

Short functional texts are types of informational texts to help the readers understand the information quickly.

Types/Kinds of

·         Invitations ( Undangan )

Invitations are invitations given by one person to another to attend an important event, for example: birthday celebrations, wedding anniversary, school graduation, anniversary. In the invitation, we need to include the name of the person being invited along with their title if they have, the name of the event, time, place, and other additional information.

·         Greeting cards ( Kartu ucapan )

Greeting cards are cards that express the feelings of another. Usually given an interesting picture or writing to give attention to others.

·         Short message ( Pesan singkat )

Short Message is short information that functions to inform someone about something when they cannot meet the person in person. Short messages can be in the form of short notes on to.

·         Notice ( Peringatan/ pemberitahuan )

Notice is writing or a sign to provide information, instructions or a brief warning to the public.  This warning must be easy to read, so it must use simple words and be written in a clear font size so that it is easy to read. In contrast to the caution or warning (warning) which is addressed to many people there will be a danger or risk that may occur.

·         Announcement ( Pengumuman )

Announcement is an official statement or notification that is spoken, written or printed so that it is generally known about something that has happened or will happen. Announcements can be heard or found anywhere, usually posted in a place that people can easily see.
