 Dalam Bahasa Inggris, sering kita temui sebuah teks yang termasuk dalam procedure text. Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, biasanya procedure text kita temukan dalam tulisan langkah-langkah untuk melakukan atau membuat sesuatu.

 • Definition: 

Procedure text is a type of text that serves to inform the reader about the steps to do something.

• Goal: 

This text is used to explain how something is made, done, or used in clear and sequential steps.

• Language characteristics of procedure text: 

1.  This text discusses facts about making or using something, so we need to use the simple present tense.
2. Because we need to explain several steps, we have to use imperative sentences. Examples of sentences in procedure text are add 5 onions, get some yeast and pan. The most important thing, friends, is that command sentences must begin with a verb. Examples are mix, stir, boil, add, turn on, get, and so on.
3. In procedure text, when we want to explain the steps for making/using it, there are times when we need to connect one sentence with another sentence. Therefore, we need connecting words. For example: first, second, after that, then, finally, last, and so on.
4. To provide information about the time or duration of production in procedure text, we need to use adverbs. Examples are in 5 minutes, for an hour, and so on. Apart from that, we can also use adverbs of manner. For example: slowly, quickly, rapidly, powerfully, etc.

• Procedure text structure:

1. Aim/Goal

So, the first part in writing procedure text is aim/goal, which means purpose. Usually, this purpose lies in the title which indicates the purpose of the text.

In the second part, Smart Friends are required to write ingredients/materials. Writing ingredients/materials is useful for explaining what ingredients or tools are used to make something in the procedure text.

Contoh: The ingredients to make Dalgona coffee are coffee and sugar. We also need a spoon and warm water. 

 3. Steps/Methods

Ayaaay!! Until we also come to the end, namely writing steps/methods (steps/methods). This section contains what steps are taken to achieve the goal of the procedure text.

1. How to Make Pencil Box

Materials:

• Box
• Scissors
• Glue
• Paint maker

The procedure to make a pencil box:

1. Find a box.
2. Peel off any labels.
3. Cut new labels from clean sheets of construction paper. Glue them on your box using a glue stick.
4. Use decorative papers, stickers, paint markers, or hand-drawn drawn designs to embellish your box.
5. Fill the box and you’re done!

2. How to Make Ice Lemon Tea

Ingredients:

• 1 bag of teabag
• 2 pieces of lemon orange
• 2 tsp of sugar
• 6 Ice cubes
• 50 ml of hot water
• 150 ml of cold water

Steps:

1. Brewed tea bag in 50 ml of hot water.
2. Add sugar, and then stir until evenly distributed.
3. Squeeze the lemon. Then, pour lemon juice into the tea.
4. Add ice cubes and add 150 ml of cold water.
5. Stir until the lemon juice mixes with the tea.
6. Add lemon slices as decoration.
7. Ice Lemon Tea is ready to be served.

Ingredients:

• A printer
• Some papers
• A laptop

Steps:

1. First, plug in the power cable of the printer and turn it on.
2. Second, go to your laptop/computer and find the “printer setting”.
3. Third, click “Add a printer” and follow the further instructions that appear.
4. Fourth, it is ready to use.
